The NSEL confuses me: Its host, CLLRNeT, lost its funding in March 2008. When I asked Melanie Slade of CLLRNeT how they were managing to carry on this consultation in the absence of core funding (and accountability to the funder to report out, etc) she responded that whether or not the initiative has funding, it will still provide importance guidance to improve literacy outcomes...and she did point out that the strategy was guided by an advisory group composed of ten organizations. However, in the absence of a funding/accountability commitment, I am still left wondering what contributors expect will come of these consultations. Is the goal to develop an inclusive strategy that most educators and community groups can sign on to, as a guide to practice, but without material support? Is the hope to resuscitate CLLRNeT through the consultation process?
Just wondering!
